Adtran acquires provider of virtual wireless network systems

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- ADTRAN, Inc., (NASDAQ: ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, announced today that it has acquired Bluesocket, a privately held company in Burlington, Mass. Bluesocket is the first and only provider of wireless network solutions with virtual control. This acquisition was effective August 4, 2011, and includes all intellectual properties, technologies and the established customer base of Bluesocket. The Bluesocket team and product portfolio will be incorporated into ADTRAN’s Enterprise Networks Division.

This acquisition catapults ADTRAN into the forefront of industry-leading wireless solutions for enterprise and campus environments. Bluesocket’s revolutionary virtual wireless LAN solutions are redefining the 802.11n Wi-Fi industry. Combining ADTRAN’s powerful enterprise networks portfolio and Bluesocket's innovative solutions will result in the industry’s most highly integrated, carrier-class, seamless wireless/wireline end-to-end voice, data, video and mobility solutions with virtual control. These solutions will enable both enterprises and large campuses to realize unprecedented scalability, seamless operations and productivity across their facilities with building-to-building, wireless and wired connectivity. Service providers will also benefit from the unique ability to offer new cloud-based wireless services where both management and control are centralized in a secure data center.
