Bert Whyte resigns as CEO of Network Equipment Technologies; C. Nicholas Keating, Jr. appointed as interim replacement

FREMONT, Calif. -- Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:NWK - News), a global supplier of communications equipment, announced today that C. Nicholas Keating, Jr. has been appointed Chief Executive Officer on an interim basis, following the resignation of Hubert "Bert" Whyte. Mr. Whyte's resignation as CEO and Board member is effective today.

Mr. Keating has been a director of Network Equipment Technologies since 2001. He was a vice president and corporate officer of the company from 1987 to 1993, and has served as a corporate director and CEO at a number of other technology companies. Mr. Keating will serve as CEO until the Board of Directors completes its search for a new Chief Executive.

Dixon Doll, chairman of Network Equipment Technologies, Inc.'s board of directors, said, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bert Whyte for his six years of service to the Company. We wish him every success in the future."
