Whiny Brat Alert

2:00 PM -- Teach your children well, warns The Independent:

Depending on your political predilections, you have double reason to be worried if you find your school-age child tends to be the whiny, sit-at-the-back-of-the-class kind. You had better get the child's confidence level up a notch or you may have a future conservative in your nest.

A study by Professor Jack Block of the University of California at Berkeley should be sufficient warning. He has been specialising in this area for years and his conclusions are clear: the boys and girls who are resilient, smooth and sure of themselves end up liberal in their older years.
In rebuttal, we can't do better than quote Bill O'Reilly: "Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!"

re: Whiny Brat Alert Ever stop to think that the whiny kids that grew up in Berkeley preferred tangible, objective judgements to the liberal group think they were inundated with in Berkeley?

Maybe the whiny kids in Kansas grow up to be liberals?

BTW, only a liberal would try to pass off a study in Berkeley as demonstrative of greater "norm".

If you want real science, how about...

* Republicans are happier than Democrats.
* People who worship frequently are happier than those who don't.
* The rich are happier than the poor.
* Whites and Hispanics are happier than blacks.
* Married people are happier than the unmarried.
* Dog owners and cat owners rate the same.
* Sunbelt residents are happier than everyone else.

I can't wait for you to respond with a claim that "Pew Research" is just a front for conservatives.

re: Whiny Brat Alert At least you are being Fair and Balanced about it.

Besides, you must have more credibility since you have never been accused of sexual harrasement, have you?

Cheers

re: Whiny Brat Alert
Huh. That list makes pretty good sense, except for that "Rich people are happier than poor people." Seems kinda counter-intuitive, no?

I guess I should have expected that you did not read the whole article: (since it did not match your political bent, you tire very quickly). But if you would have read just a little further...

The reason might seem obvious, since "Republicans tend to have more money than Democrats, andGÇöas we've already discoveredGÇöpeople who have more money tend to be happier," the report states.

But even after adjusting for income, poor Republicans are happier than poor Democrats, and rich Republicans are happier than rich Democrats.

re: Whiny Brat Alert Happiness is the bliss of ignorance when people talk too much, regardless of how much they think.

All this in spite of being egged on by a monkey.

re: Whiny Brat Alert What're you doing over here?

I thought we'd see the resident LooScent fanboy over in the Loo stock board, raving up a storm over the upcoming "merger of equals."

ROTFLMAO

re: Whiny Brat Alert Now don't go trying to Flim Flam us over here.

I give CLGFR credit for recognizing that the LU board has got no snap! With the most recent post over 5 months ago I'd say you friend has moves on to greener more interesting pastures.

We do welcome you over here though. You might want to post on the Article Talk boards to stay current. Oh yeah, you missed the Creation vs ID discussion too. what a shame it was a top ten for '05. CLGFR was in rare form.

Cheers

re: Whiny Brat Alert Lite Rock,

Don't mind Flam, he just loves following me and Lucent news. He usually is advocating the position that LU is the root of all evil in telecom and I'm their mouthpiece. I sometimes try to point out that LU isn't all bad or all good and that there are still some decent respectable engineers that work there.
It seems Flam started this long standing rant against LU about the time of his seemingly involuntary separation from LU in 2003.

Someone once told me that if you can keep Flam off the subject of LU, he can be a decent and interesting person. Wouldn't it be cool to find out?

Thanks for the "top ten" plug. Ahh, just waiting for the next good existential conversation.
