MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT; www.adc.com) announced today that interoperability testing of its new Soneplex®/HiGain® HDSL4 T1 access products are underway with Aurora, Illinois-based Westell Technologies. Soneplex/HiGain HDSL4 gives service providers the ability to deliver high-speed T1 services to customers beyond the normal Carrier Service Area (CSA) range of 12,000 feet. ADC's HDSL4 enables carriers to reach more customers without expensive outside plant installations for repeaters and without interfering with sensitive ADSL circuits. With line-powered repeaters and remotes, Soneplex/HiGain HDSL4 maintains spectrum compatibility with ADSL, while supporting even greater reach via a three-span circuit."Westell and ADC are working together to advance HDSL4 technology so carriers can take advantage of the lower costs and greater reach and revenue these access products bring to the network," said Mark McDonald, vice president of product management and marketing for the Wireline Systems Business Unit at ADC. "The telecommunications industry thrives on equipment standards and these interoperability tests are a vital prerequisite for the volume rollout of HDSL4 in North America."Westell and ADC are making strides with the leading telecommunications companies to advance HDSL4 technology through interoperability testing. Testing of the HDSL4 platform conducted by Westell Technologies and ADC will help enable the seamless deployment of the products in service provider networks.ADC Telecommunications Inc.
