Sterling has more than 15 years' experience in telecommunications as an industry analyst and journalist. His coverage area at Heavy Reading is optical networking, including packet-optical transport. He also authors Heavy Reading's Packet-Enabled Optical Networking Market Tracker and Next-Gen Core Packet-Optical Market Tracker. Sterling joined Heavy Reading after five years at IDC, where he served as lead optical networks analyst, responsible for the firm's optical networking subscription research and custom consulting activities. Prior to IDC, Sterling worked for Standard & Poor's, where he delivered global industry analysis on a range of IT segments. He is a former journalist and editor at Telecommunications Magazine, and has also done consulting work for the research firm Current Analysis. Sterling is a frequent speaker at telecom industry events and a highly sought-after source among the business and trade press.
Tomasz leads the team responsible for strategy and development of the several IP networks that provide transport for vital fixed and mobile services of Orange Polska. Together with internal partners he is deeply involved in business development in IP domain. Lately, he took a technical lead of network resilience project. Prior to current position, Tomasz played several roles in Network Operations and Network Design and Deployment. This experience brought him good understanding of the telecom market, technology lifetime management and the challenges that are faced by different entities in the company.
Andrzej has several years of experience regarding Network Operation and Management, Network Planning and Network Development. He is certified for following Juniper tracks: Service Provider Routing and Switching, Automation and DevOps, Cloud, Security.
Andrzej is involved in the Northstar implementation and feature testing as well as tests of network devices, used in OPL Core network. Experience from working in NOC team gives him better perspective of what is needed to improve network manageability, functionality and resilience.
Julian is a Distinguished Systems Engineer at Juniper Networks, where he works with many operators on the design and evolution of their networks. He is primarily interested in control plane protocols, SDN Controllers, Closed-Loop Automation and creating synergies between different systems, such as NorthStar, HealthBot and Contrail. Before joining Juniper Networks in 1999, he worked at BT for several years. During this time, he gained a PhD in ultrahigh-speed optical transmission and processing from Cambridge University. He also has a master’s degree in Physics from Cambridge University. He is often invited to speak at key public conferences and Juniper customer events. He is the holder of several patents in the area of communications technology. He is co-author of the books "MPLS-Enabled Applications: Emerging Developments and New Technologies" and "Configuring Segment Routing with Junos".
Francois is a Senior Solutions Architect in the Red Hat’s Telco Technology Office and collaborates with telecom service providers and partners across EMEA. Passionate about security, Francois leads the NFV security domain and is the Red Hat’s technical interface to the National Cybersecurity Agency of France (ANSSI). Before Red Hat, he spent more than 15 years contributing to network evolution especially towards cloud platforms.
