Jim leads Heavy Reading’s research on the impact of NFV on the control plane and application layers at the core and edge. This includes the evolution path of SIP applications, unified communications (UC), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), session border controllers (SBCs), Diameter signaling controllers (DSCs), policy controllers and WebRTC. Jim is also focused on the network and subscriber impact of Big Data and Analytics. He authors Heavy Reading's NFV and SDN Market Trackers. Other areas of research coverage include Subscriber Data Management (SDM) and fixed-line TDM replacement. Jim joined Heavy Reading from Nortel Networks, where he tracked the VoIP and application server market landscape and was a key contributor to the development of Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) standards. Additional technical experience was gained with Bell Canada, where he performed IN and SS7 network planning, numbering administration, technical model forecast creation and definition of regulatory-based interconnection models. Jim is based in Ottawa, Canada.

Henry Tam is the Sr Product Manager for F5's BIG-IP Virtual Edition, the virtualized Application Delivery Controller (ADC) platform delivering advance traffic management and security functions. Henry drives the product strategy and direction, incorporating customer requirements and market trends. Prior to F5, he was Solution Marketing Manager at Acxiom, leading a new Data Quality SaaS platform, and Sr Product Manager at Dell and HP, on next generation x86-based servers. Henry holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ and an MBA from the University of Houston in Houston, TX.

Chuck Tato is the Director of the Wireline and NFV business division in the Programmable Solutions Group at Intel. He is focused on delivering innovative FPGA based solutions for the networking and transmission markets as well as leading the way into acceleration of virtualized networking workloads for next generation networks.

Previous to his role at F5 in Product Management, Chris was as a Security Automation engineer at Comcast. Leveraging his nearly 20 years of application developing expertise, while at Comcast he developed a customer portal for Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) DDoS Service to fully provision all new DDoS enterprise, business and residential customers, still in use today.

Chris brings his deep knowledge of Security Reporting to F5, for building improvements to BIG-IQ, AFM and CGNAT, and helps teams around the global design and build features Service Providers rely on to protect their customers.

Chris has a BS in Computing and Security Technology, Cum Laude, from Drexel University.

Francois is a Senior Solutions Architect in the Red Hat’s Telco Technology Office and collaborates with telecom service providers and partners across EMEA. Passionate about security, Francois leads the NFV security domain and is the Red Hat’s technical interface to the National Cybersecurity Agency of France (ANSSI). Before Red Hat, he spent more than 15 years contributing to network evolution especially towards cloud platforms.
