Increasing customer demands and growing competition from platform/OTT players is forcing CSPs to transform. Some are launching new digital services. Others are adopting the platform approach themselves. Many are pursuing M&A to try to remain relevant.

James leads Heavy Reading's OSS/BSS research service. He examines the breadth of software used by communications service providers in customer, business, service and infrastructure management. James's areas of focus include BSS, OSS, SDP, policy management, revenue assurance, service assurance, analytics and business intelligence. He is particularly interested in the impact of SDN and NFV on operator's IT systems.
Prior to joining Heavy Reading, James worked for more than 15 years as an analyst covering technology and telecom companies for various investment banks and industry research firms. He previously worked as a management consultant in industry.
James holds a BSc and MEng in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester, England.

Niren Moharir graduated from the Electrical Engineering Department of the University College of Engineering, Osmania University in 1993. He started his career as an Instrumentation Engineer with Dunlop India Limited before eventually transitioning into the IT industry as a specialist in the Telecom Domain. He is currently the head of HOBS Customer Relationships at Tata Consultancy services limited. He has worked with telecom operators around the world in roles ranging from IT programmer to solution architect to strategy consultant over the last 23 years. He lives with his family in Hyderabad.

Rick has been active in the telecommunications industry for over 15 years, having previously served as the Telco Industry Architect for Microsoft Latin America and Microsoft Consulting Services in the United States. He has led numerous application development projects in Tier-1 service providers across the Americas. He is an enthusiastic participant and speaker in many industry communities, is an advocate of industry frameworks and open standards, and holds a TM Forum Business Development Manager Career Certification.
