VSNL deploys Aperto's PacketWave gear in national rollout across India; Aperto opens WiMax development center in Bangalore, India

MUMBAI, India -- Aperto Networks, developer of the world's most advanced WiMAX base stations and subscriber units, and Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL), India's leading telecommunications service provider, announced today that VSNL has completed deployment of Aperto's PacketWAVE(TM) multi-service broadband wireless systems in over 65 cities across India. This is part of an initial deployment phase with the goal of growing the network to cover over 200 cities within twelve months.

Aperto's PacketWAVE(TM) family of base stations and subscriber units are a part of a country-wide network that enables high-speed wireless voice and data services for a wide variety of end users throughout India. Some examples of corporate end users benefiting from the broadband services delivered over this powerful network include Tata Motors, Hyundai Auto and Amadeus.
