RATINGEN, Germany -- Vodafone Information Systems GmbH, a subsidiary of Vodafone Group plc, announces an alliance with Opus ABS to offer outsourced Billing Services to telcos. This service is initially available in the UK and will be extended to other countries over time.

With increased cost pressure on telcos globally, there is a huge demand for services that charge by volume of transactions. All features of the BILLIT product will be available via this service, thus enabling access to features needed and used by large carriers and other telcos. The rapidly growing number of telecoms resellers has need of a service built around a carrier-grade platform. This enables them to interface and integrate with the carriers’ systems more easily and smoothly. Customers also have the option of purchasing the same software for in-house use should they feel the need to do so in the future.

OPUS ABS is a rapidly growing company offering a variety of solutions to the telecoms industry. It currently has offices in the UK and USA, which are linked to Processing Centres across the globe. Headquartered in Reading, UK, it specialises and focuses on the telecoms market and offers a range of services that allow telcos to outsource processes that can be implemented more competitively on an outsourced basis. Formed by professionals who collectively have hundreds of years experience in the telecoms industry, OPUS ABS has several customers in the UK and is increasing its presence in USA and on the European continent.

“We are very excited about this alliance. It will enable a wide variety of organisations in the Telecoms industry to have access to the features and benefits derived from use of our tried and tested billing platform, Billit.

With a background of successes in Europe and through the alliance with OPUS ABS, we can now offer our customers in the UK a seamless growth path; vertically as their needs grow, and horizontally across Europe,” said Frank van Gumpel, Division Manager Billing Products at Vodafone Information Systems.

“In its pursuit of bringing the best-in-class solutions to its customers, OPUS ABS will now be able offer billing services around a product designed in the backyard of a very successful telco. In association with our already well-recognised expertise and solutions in the telecoms industry, we are eminently positioned to become a premier partner for our customers as they move through the phases of resurgence – cost reduction, consolidation and growth,” said Rajiv Mathur, Chief Executive Officer, OPUS ABS.
