CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ:VTSS - news) today expands its crosspoint switch family with the introduction of the industry's lowest power 36x36 and 68x68 crosspoint switches. Building on its expertise in the SONET/SDH arena, Vitesse designed Integrated Signal Equalization (ISE) capability into its crosspoint switches to eliminate the effects of Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) that can occur in applications that use long, narrow PCB traces to route the incoming signal, such as Clos switch fabrics used in Digital Cross-connect Systems (DCS).

"With innovative features, such as the deterministic `jitter eating' ISE capability and the industry's lowest power dissipation, Vitesse's crosspoint switch products are ideally suited to meet the increasing demands for additional bandwidth in high density switch fabrics," stated Tom Kapucija, Vitesse's product marketing manager. "Fulfilling our customers' needs for crosspoint switches with low power dissipation and high signal integrity, Vitesse has developed an excellent platform for future asynchronous crosspoint switch products."
