SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Consumers in Beijing, China may be soon getting their multi-screen video services from the cloud using Envivio’s cloud video solution. Envivio (NASDAQ: ENVI) today announced that it has deployed the first cloud video transcoding service in China for Beijing Gehua CATV Network Co., Ltd. For this unprecedented deployment, BGCTV is using Envivio Muse encoding software. Muse encoders are powering BGCTV’s multi-screen service that offers BGCTV’s 150 SD channels and 50 HD video channels to connected TVs, PCs, smartphones, ipads, etc.

Envivio’s software-based video solutions support the full range of standards, resolutions and profiles, including latest generation HEVC (H.265) compression as well as AVC (H.264) and MPEG-2. For mobile applications, content can be streamed in Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), Microsoft Smooth Streaming, Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming (HDS) or MPEG-DASH formats. The SaaS solution provides superior quality of experience, works on any device, over any network, anywhere, with carrier-grade quality and reliability that video service providers demand.

Live linear and on-demand content can be simultaneously delivered to most high-engagement platforms such as Apple TV, XBox, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, iOS/Android tablets, and smart TVs. Envivio’s virtualized software has been commercially deployed on a large scale at a leading U.S. cable operator, and at a tier 1 operator in Europe for live OTT channels delivered to the main television screen.
