Video Grabs Comms Director
The communications director says that it was a difficult decision to leave the firm he has been with since the beginning but that now was the right time. "Aruba’s growing really big, really fast and needs a heavy-hitter," he explained to Unstrung.
And the hairspray-lovin' Callisch already has a history with the executives at Video54, particularly the firm's CEO, Selina Lo.
Come back with us, if you will, to the halcyon days of early 2003, when Aruba wanted to recruit a new CEO. Lo was cited by some as a prospective candidate for the job.
Here's what Callisch said about that suggestion:
"She's not going to be the CEO. She's too attractive to be our CEO, and we'd need to pay her a shoe budget." (See S.Lo No Go as Aruba CEO.)
So, aside from all that, what do they actually do over at Video54? The startup has developed what it calls "BeamFlex smart MIMO antenna" technology to improve the performce of standard 802.11 chipsets. MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) is one of the buzz-words in the WiFi world at the moment. It entails coordinating transmissions between multiple antennas to improve the performance of 802.11 links.
Callisch's position at Aruba will be filled by Don Reckles, who we've never heard of.
