WICT Rocky Mountain to honor 10 cable industry leaders at 10th anniversary 'Walk of Fame' gala

DENVER -- Women in Cable Telecommunications, Rocky Mountain Chapter, today announced that it will honor the accomplishments and contributions of 10 of the cable industry’s most inspiring and notable leaders at the organization’s upcoming Walk of Fame Gala. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Walk of Fame Gala, the chapter’s signature event.

The 10th Anniversary of the Walk of Fame Gala represents a significant milestone for the WICT Rocky Mountain chapter. The Gala will honor not only the accomplishments of 10 distinguished professionals but will serve as a reflection point for a decade of achievements and prosperity in the cable industry. This year’s Gala will be celebrated with the theme of Reflections of Our Success.

The Walk of Fame on May 6, 2009 honors the leaders whose contributions to the cable and telecommunications industry underscore the organization’s vision to advance women’s careers and enrich their lives through professional development and leadership opportunities. The honorees were nominated through a confidential and comprehensive process by colleagues, mentors, fellow members and leaders throughout the industry.

“Throughout the past decade, the WICT Rocky Mountain Walk of Fame Gala has provided us an opportunity to celebrate our collective achievements and honor the leaders who have transformed cable telecommunications,” said Tracy Baumgartner, vice president of public relations at Comcast’s West Division and president of WICT Rocky Mountain. “The Gala encapsulates our organization’s mission to advancing, enriching and celebrating women’s professional accomplishments. This year’s 10th anniversary is especially meaningful as it serves as a reflection point for our past accomplishments and our future successes.”

The WICT Rocky Mountain chapter is proud to announce two 2009 Walk of Fame Women of the Year.

WICT Rocky Mountain – 2009 Women of the Year
Kelly Bumann, Vice President Brand Strategy and Marketing Communications, Starz Entertainment –Bumann is responsible for the development of the brand strategy to support the networks as well as the resulting advertising programs that bring the strategy to life – across consumer advertising as well as with affiliates. She also leads the marketing strategy for the launch and integrated planning for the launch of Starz new Original Series.

Jill Stark, Vice President, West Operating Group, Charter Communications – As vice president of the West Operating Group at Charter Business, Stark balances $255M in revenue, keeps watch over sales, service delivery and fulfillment, P&L responsibility, marketing, capital management, technical operations, installation and customer care. She has deep roots in cable that began in 1990 with TCI in marketing.

WICT Rocky Mountain Honorees
The WICT Walk of Fame Gala also will honor industry executives in five other categories. The honorees are:

Mentor of the Year
Tom Feige, Regional Vice President of Northeast/National Division, Time Warner Cable – While Feige started his cable career in door-to-door cable sales, he now serves as RVP of Northeast/National division for Time Warner Cable. In this position, he is responsible for cable operations in 15 states. Prior to this position, he was chairman of Adlink as well as the California Cable & Telecommunications Association.

Partner of the Industry
Dr. Richard R. Green, President and Chief Executive Officer, CableLabs – Dr. Green leads CableLabs® and the institution’s development of key technologies that have revolutionized cable including high-speed Internet and telephone. Further, under Dr. Green’s direction, CableLabs® is leading the launch of interactive television services under the advanced digital devices (OpenCable™) project. Other initiatives include use of PacketCable™, Cable Information Services, such as Go2BroadbandSM, which seek to facilitate exchange of information between multiple cable operators and business partners.

Woman in Technology
Sara Baack, Senior Vice President, Voice Services, Level 3 Communications – Baack is responsible for voice product management and operations at Level 3 Communications. She has been with the company since 1999 and has held various leadership roles within the company.

Women to Watch – Director & Above
Nancy Hankins, Senior Director, Strategic Procurement, Charter Communications – Hankins is responsible for centralized, enterprise-wide procurement negotiations, with the primary goal of reducing supply costs while improving the quality and delivery of products and services.

Connie Keith, Vice President, Charter Strategic Business Unit – Keith is responsible for managing all aspects of the business relationship between CSG Systems and Charter Communications. She joined CSG in 1999 as a program manager and has held positions of increasing responsibility and influence in the organization.

Charlon McIntosh, Vice President of Customer Care, Comcast Colorado – McIntosh is responsible for developing, facilitating and implementing strategies aimed at delivering superior customer service for Comcast Colorado customers. She has responsibility for nearly 820,000 customers and 1,000 customer service employees.

Women to Watch – Supervisor & Manager
Jennifer Stamm, Marketing Manager, The Cable Center – Stamm is responsible for marketing strategy, communications and branding for The Cable Center. She has been recognized for her work on the organization’s annual report and is actively involved in numerous cable-centric organizations.

Missy Wood, Senior Manager of Engineering Operations, Comcast Colorado – Wood leads a team of more than 80 Comcast employees who directly support field technicians through accurate order and provisioning of voice, video and high-speed Internet.

All honorees will be celebrated at the upcoming Walk of Fame Gala. The 10th anniversary of the event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center on May 6, 2009 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is open to all professionals in the cable telecommunications industry.
