Telefónica de España has met its target of over 200,000 Imagenio subscribers in its first year of life in Spain

MADRID -- Telefónica de España has met its target of over 200,000 Imagenio subscribers in its firstyear of life in Spain. Telefónica de España's interactive digital TV services are now availableto 4 million households in the 140 largest towns and cities in Spain.

Imagenio was launched less than a year ago in Madrid and Barcelona and the offer wasextended throughout Spain in less than six months. From last May, Telefónica de Españahas been installing ADSL2+ technology at specific exchanges to provide an optimumservice quality and reach the largest possible number of households.

Imagenio is a unique product on the Spanish market offering 48 TV and 15 audio channels,a portfolio of interactive information services and electronic commerce, in addition tovideo on demand – a service which allows customers access to a video club in their ownhome to view films whenever they wish from a selection of over 400 titles with DVDquality and in their original language with subtitles. It also offers over 1,000 hours of TVseries, documentaries, concerts, video clips and news with subscribers able to control howthey view the programme (pause, play, fast forward etc.). Imagenio also offers first divisionfootball games and King’s Cup matches and is commercialized with a de-coder ready toallow customers to view all DTT channels.

Telefónica’s interactive digital television product may be contracted independently or in apackage with ADSL internet access, flat rate telephone calls or both. The mostcomprehensive offer is the “Trío”, a product which offers Imagenio digital TV, 24 hourADSL connection and local, provincial and national calls to fixed phones at a flat rate of 20euros per month until 31 January 2006.
