SCTE Foundation summarizes 1Q08 grant activity

EXTON, Pa. -- The SCTE Foundation is pleased to announce today its summary of grants it approved for members of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) during the first quarter of 2008.Helping to fulfill the educational goals of SCTE members, the SCTE Foundation approved grants for 17 individuals during the quarter:

  • Kenneth Branscum, Charter Communications

  • Ron (Jake) Colflesh, Armstrong Group of Companies

  • Abram Denzlinger, Cox Communications

  • Bill DesRochers, Time Warner Cable

  • Terry Dockery, Cox Communications

  • Patrick Dunn, Rogers Cable

  • Suzanne Holzer, Cox Communications

  • Tim Hults, NPG Cable

  • Brenda Jefford, Rogers Cable

  • David Keezer, University of Maine

  • Marshall Kurschner, Comcast Cable Communications

  • Ronald Penner, Cox Communications

  • Rosa Rosas, NPG Cable

  • Al Seevers, Comcast Cable Communications

  • Sandy Welbourne, Bresnan Communications

  • Randy Wells, Suddenlink Communications



These SCTE Foundation grants were earmarked for a variety of professional development opportunities comprising Jones/NCTI™ courses addressing effective supervision and management and covering fiber installation and activation; college coursework toward a bachelor of science in engineering management; and attendance at SCTE Chapter Leadership Conference (CLC) 2008, which took place April 2–3 in Atlanta.

These grants were directly aligned with the portion of the Foundation’s mission that calls for assisting SCTE members in their educational pursuits within cable and telecommunications engineering. The SCTE Foundation, which was founded in 2005 and began issuing grants in 2006, has now assisted more than 40 SCTE members with a combined total of approximately $70,000.
