LOS ANGELES -- Enterprises testing a new cloud-based video on demand (VOD) technology from MediaPlatform, coupled with a Riverbed® Steelhead® wide area network (WAN) optimization solution, have seen an 80 percent reduction in Internet bandwidth consumption over other VOD offerings. Announced today by MediaPlatform, the joint offering integrates MediaPlatform’s PrimeTime media management technology with Riverbed Cloud Steelhead enabling enterprises to optimize Internet bandwidth load while accessing VOD content stored in the cloud.

“As organizations create more video content, using the cloud for storage and management of these media assets is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative,” said Greg Pulier, founder and president, MediaPlatform. “Setting up a cloud video content management system is not without its issues, however. While the cloud lets you avoid costly on-premise server setup and IT resource costs, it can also tax an organization’s Internet connection.”
