MELBOURNE, Fla. -- AuthenTec (AUTH), a leading provider of mobile and network security, announced today that it has teamed with Jupiter Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (J:COM) to deliver J:COM’s Video On Demand (VOD) services to its 2.5 million subscribers in Japan. J:COM, the largest cable operator in Japan based on the number of customers served, will use AuthenTec’s downloadable DRM Fusion and DRM Fusion Server to protect and deliver its VOD content to Apple and Android mobile devices via a new Xvie service launched on May 22.

AuthenTec provided J:COM DRM content protection on the server side and client DRM protection with via downloadable Android and iOS clients that are based on Microsoft’s PlayReady platform. AuthenTec’s DRM Fusion clients are compatible with third party servers for content services that have already been deployed, and also work seamlessly with AuthenTec servers for fast and flexible deployment of new services.
