AMSTERDAM -- Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENTR), a leading provider of silicon and software solutions to enable connected home entertainment, today announced its Broadband Access silicon solution in combination with LG Electronic's Pro:Centric(TM) hospitality TV solution allows for broadband service to be delivered to hotel rooms where there is not a dedicated Ethernet broadband infrastructure wire to each room. This Entropic design win enables both TV and broadband service to hotel rooms over existing coaxial cable; allowing guests to take advantage of new infotainment and over-the-top (OTT) video services via the hotel room TV.

LGE's Pro:Centric 'digital concierge' content delivery system enhances the in-room hotel experience, providing guests incredibly easy-to-use and exciting in room interactivity. By adding Entropic's Broadband Access solution, which includes the EN3011 Network Controller (NC) and EN3230 Consumer Premise Equipment (CPE) solution, based on the MoCA(R) (Multimedia over Coax) standard, guests gain access to advanced IP-based services, including IP video on demand (VOD), voice, Wi-Fi, and data services. Hotel owners benefit as they can deliver enhanced applications -- over the existing coaxial cable -- without the need to re-wire rooms for broadband and video service.

"Our Pro:Centric hospitality solutions for in-room entertainment are designed to enhance the guest experience. When paired with the field-proven Entropic Broadband Access solution, we can ensure hotel guests get the best hospitality services, while hoteliers enjoy a consistent revenue stream for their property," said Mr. Kukho Bae, research fellow of Commercial Display and Security Business unit of LGE. "We found Entropic's silicon solution appealing as it is a high RF implementation and can co-exist with existing cable TV transmission. The throughput for broadband and the video co-existence make it an attractive solution for the hospitality market."
