PHILADELPHIA -- Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK), the country’s leading cable, entertainment and communications company, today announced several promotions and additional responsibilities for members of its Programming Group, led by Jeff Shell and Content Acquisition Group led by Matt Bond.
Jeff Shell, President, Comcast Programming Group, announced that:
Bill Bridgen will join Comcast SportsNet reporting to Comcast SportsNet President Jon Litner. Mr. Bridgen, who previously served as Executive Vice President of Network Distribution, Comcast Programming Group, will help develop the company’s growing roster of regional sports networks, which collectively serve more than 27 million viewers in leading sports markets across the country.
Alan Dannenbaum will succeed Mr. Bridgen as Executive Vice President of Network Distribution. Mr. Dannenbaum, who previously served as Senior Vice President of Content Acquisition for Comcast, will oversee the distribution team for the company’s programming entities—including E! Entertainment Television, Style Network, The Golf Channel, VERSUS, G4, AZN Television, PBS KIDS Sprout, FEARnet, ExerciseTV and the regional Comcast SportsNets—which leverage Comcast’s unique multiplatform expertise to deliver cable television programming and non-linear content to targeted demographics networks. He will report to Mr. Shell.
Earl Marshall has been named Vice President of Business Development, Comcast Programming Group. Mr. Marshall, who previously served as Senior Director for Comcast’s Corporate Development Group, will lead a team responsible for the expansion of the company’s current network properties and will work with the company’s existing networks in evaluating new media opportunities. Mr. Marshall will report to Joe Donnelly, CFO, Comcast Programming Group.
“We’ve promoted several senior leaders to new roles where they are now positioned to help grow Comcast’s Networks,” said Mr. Shell. “Bill’s expertise in sports, network management and affiliate relations will contribute tremendously to our growing SportsNet businesses; Alan’s expertise and reputation in affiliate relations will expand distribution opportunities and Earl’s business development acumen will enable us to continue to leverage new cross-platform development opportunities.”
Matt Bond, Executive Vice President, Content Acquisition, announced that:
Jennifer Gaiski has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Content Acquisition. Ms. Gaiski, who most recently served as Vice President of Content Acquisition, will continue to negotiate and administer programming contracts, coordinate the company’s nationwide field operations and financial commitments, as well as manage programming for Comcast’s partnership properties.
Allan Singer will succeed Mr. Dannenbaum as Senior Vice President, Content Acquisition. Mr. Singer will license programming content for distribution on Comcast cable systems, including cable networks and broadcast television stations.
Matthew Strauss has been named Senior Vice President, New Media. Mr. Strauss, who most recently served as Senior Vice President of Content Acquisition and Development, will continue to manage the development and acquisition of non-linear video programming services, and also will assume responsibility for developing content for Comcast’s Internet properties.
