WASHINGTON -- Frank Gallagher, director of education and media literacy for Cable in the Classroom (CIC), was recently appointed to the board of the National PTA. He is one of ten new board members announced recently during the 112th Annual National PTA Convention in San Diego.
At CIC, Gallagher has collaborated with the PTA for 14 years on critical TV viewing and media literacy projects. As an expert in media literacy and media education, he is a frequent speaker and workshop leader on these topics. Gallagher also helped create and organize the cable industry’s PointSmart.ClickSafe. initiative that helps educate parents about online safety and appropriate use of the Internet by their children, and he was a principal staff planner of the initiative’s recent summit on online safety and Internet literacy. Gallagher is a consulting editor to CIC's publications, Cable in the Classroom Magazine and Threshold, tracks the cable industry’s work with schools, and writes briefing materials for both the cable and education communities.
