Uzbekistan's national carrier deploys MERA session controller technology in its nationwide VOIP network

TORONTO -- MERA Systems, Inc., a leading vendor of carrier-class VoIP solutions, today announced that Uzbektelecom, Uzbekistan's largest provider of telecommunications services, has deployed MERA's MVTS Session Controller in its nationwide VoIP network.

The MERA MVTS Session Controller has been installed at the Uzbektelecom's headquarters in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan. It has bridged the telco's regional VoIP networks - 12 'islands of VoIP' in the major cities of the country - into a fully integrated communication infrastructure. The Session Controller's capacity will be further built up to accommodate for future growth of the network. To ensure direct IP-to-IP interconnection with corporate SIP networks, Uzbektelecom plans to enhance the MVTS Session Controller with MERA's SIP-H.323 translation and transcoding functionality.
