Users Call the Shots
4:30 PM -- Today on Contentinople:
- Viewers are spoiled, we already know. While short-form video rules the Web, users deem adding ads to it "not reasonable." Unreasonable, one might even say. Apparently, the connection between monetization and production isn't quite clear... yet.
- Internap tackles the wee country called India with a Reliance Globalcom partnership. Reliance will use the country as its base for selling Internap services throughout Asia. The company is also adding a POP in Mumbai. The board of directors rejoices.
- Forget undersea cables. FTTx? Who cares? The real connection everyone should (and will) be talking about is the one from the computer to the television. Our Adi looks at where the connection's been and where it's going.
- CDNs are sexy, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. In our roundup: Level 3 delivers Age of Conan, complete with scantily clad female characters (is there another kind in the land of gaming?); EdgeCast snags Delve; and Panther Express is the force behind VerticalResponse. Well, maybe they're not that sexy.
And in today's News Bits, counterintuitively pronounced Cuil talks trash to Google.
