DULLES, Va. -- N.E.T. Federal, a subsidiary of Network Equipment Technologies, Inc., d.b.a. net.com (NYSE: NWK - News) and a leading network equipment and solutions provider to the federal and defense marketplace, today announced that the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command has selected both its Promina multiservice access and SHOUT900 IP telephony platforms for domestic and overseas deployment in the Joint Enhanced Core Communications System (JECCS). The initial order for 11 JECCS units is valued at approximately $3 million.

JECCS, a Humvee-mounted multifunctional communications system, enables deployed forces to establish mobile network connectivity between land and sea operations. It leverages the Promina platform to provide both secure and non-secure voice and data telecommunications services, local area network and network management services, messaging services and satellite capabilities for Marine Expeditionary Units in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Camp Pendleton, California and Okinawa, Japan.

"N.E.T. Federal's equipment provides us with reliable, long-term and state-of-the-art solutions," said Chief Warrant Officer 4 Roosevelt Green III, Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Virginia. "When we have an emerging requirement for lifespan equipment, N.E.T. Federal quickly responds to our needs with solutions that give us a flexible migration path to the latest technology."

Promina systems cost-effectively consolidate a variety of user traffic and applications on a single platform. The Promina platform adapts to support time division multiplexing (TDM), frame relay, integrated services digital network (ISDN), asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) and Internet protocol (IP) transport techniques. While leveraging the bandwidth-on-demand (BoD) benefits of frame and cell-based solutions, Promina can configure and maintain quality of service (QoS) guarantees for optimal application transport.

"The Marine Corps requires network solutions that enable rapid deployment and broad communications functionality," said John Winters, vice president of N.E.T. Federal. "We're very pleased that our Promina and SHOUT capabilities will help advance the efficiency and interoperability of the Marine Corps' tactical communications system."
