NEW YORK, February 1, 2006 – Light Reading's Unstrung Website (www.unstrung.com), the leading online enterprise wireless publication, has merged with CMP's Mobile Pipeline (www.mobilepipeline.com) and is being relaunched today.

Bearing a new tagline – "Mobilizing the Enterprise" – and augmented with editorial content and columns from Mobile Pipeline, Unstrung will continue to focus on key issues of enterprise wireless networking and mobility for IT professionals. In contrast to other wireless-industry publications, Unstrung delivers independent and original content and breaking news on a daily basis, along with regularly updated case studies, interviews, polls, and directories.

Unstrung's team of three full-time editors is led by Terry Sweeney, Editor in Chief, who launched CMP's Storage Pipeline. Dan Jones continues in the role of Site Editor, while Richard Martin has joined the team as Senior Editor. Together, they have more than 50 years' experience in technology journalism.

The relaunch of Unstrung was made possible by CMP Media's acquisition of Light Reading Inc. in August 2005. The union of these two market-leading technology media companies has resulted in a site with the largest circulation in the wireless market.

Based on previous averages, the newly redesigned Unstrung site will attract 390,000 monthly page views and 102,000 unique monthly visitors. The site also features an opt-in newsletter incorporating 58,984 subscribers – the largest-circulation wireless newsletter.

"The combination of Unstrung and Mobile Pipeline creates an enterprise wireless publication with the most highly qualified readership in the industry," said Stephen Saunders, President of Light Reading and Senior Vice President of CMP's newly formed Communications Group. "The relaunch of Unstrung represents a key step in taking the highly successful business-to-business publishing model established by Light Reading's publications to the next level within CMP Media."

The Unstrung brand extends to a range of additional publications, services, and events, including:

  • Customized Webinars: These hour-long online events explicate specific technology solutions to a qualified audience of IT professionals.

  • Unstrung Insider: The subscription research service, affiliated with Heavy Reading (www.heavyreading.com), continues to cover key wireless networking issues in depth every month.

  • Unstrung Enterprise Insider: Launching in February 2006, Unstrung Enterprise Insider is a bimonthly research service that tracks the key technology and market developments that will affect how businesses and public-sector organizations deploy and manage products and services targeted to mobility applications.

  • Unstrung TV: Broadcast-quality broadband video service offering enterprise users entertaining and educational programming on critical business and technology issues.

"We're looking forward to delivering the most intelligent and useful mix of breaking news, analysis, and technical content to enterprise wireless professionals," says Terry Sweeney, Editor in Chief of Unstrung. "Unstrung is the destination for the latest on everything from wireless LANs to mobile applications, broadband wireless networks, RFID, and beyond. As the wireless landscape shifts and reforms, Unstrung is the Web's richest destination for information, insight, commentary, and technical know-how."
