NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Mindspeed Technologies(TM), the Internet infrastructure business of Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNXT) and Tyco Electronics, today announced that the two companies have achieved a long reach, high-speed milestone by driving 60 inches of FR4 trace at 3.125 Gbps. The demonstration combined Mindspeed's M27218 Octal SkyRail serializer/deserializer (Ser/Des) transceiver and Tyco Electronics' XAUI HM-Zd Interoperability Platform sending CRPAT, CJPAT and PRBS15 patterns successfully through two backplane connectors and 60 inches of standard FR4. "Driving 60 inches of FR4 at 3.125 Gbps establishes Mindspeed and Tyco Electronics as the leading solution for backplane signal integrity and paves the way for high-reliability, multi-gigabit backplane designs," said John Giddings, product manager for Mindspeed. "Our patented Amplif-Eye3(TM) signal conditioning enables the superior signal integrity demanded by high-speed applications. Many customers are designing at these speeds for the very first time. By providing a robust and reliable backplane link with our SerDes devices and Tyco Electronics' connector and backplane design, our customers can focus their efforts on value-added system features."
