'TV Everywhere' Race Heats Up

Despite all the press given to Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK)'s upcoming On Demand Online trial, it won't be the first company to launch a commercial broadband video offering that will allow subscribers to watch cable programming for free.

Tom MacIsaac, CEO of video management and distribution firm ExtendMedia Inc. , claims that his company is currently working with three Tier 1 providers that will be deploying TV Everywhere services in coming months. And one of those companies will be launching its version of the authenticated broadband video initiative in the next few weeks.

So who will be first out of the gate with TV Everywhere services? MacIsaac wouldn't say, but chances are good that it's one of ExtendMedia's large named customers.
