True Thailand: Building Optimal-Experience Intelligent Networks, Driving New Growth

At the 8th Ultra-Broadband Forum (UBBF 2022) held recently in Bangkok, Mr. Zhang Linghua, deputy CTO of True Thailand, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Building Optimal-Experience Intelligent Networks, Driving New Growth." In this speech, he shared True's strategy and its network and service evolution trends in response to industry digital transformation. True is a leading digital lifestyle enabler that focuses on 2B vertical industry innovation, 5G ecosystem expansion, and smart living etc. It continuously strives to deliver the ultimate experience, 400GE ultra-broadband, and network automation. In this way, True builds optimal-experience intelligent networks to drive new service growth.

True is a fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) carrier and the top broadband carrier in Thailand. It regards digital transformation as a strategic objective and has started innovation in multiple fields, such as smart living, IoT connectivity, vending machine, and telemedicine etc. In addition to mobile and fixed network services, digital services are also an integral part of True's business scope. True has been relentless in its efforts to enable digital lifestyle for users and improve their service experience and quality.

Mr. Zhang Linghua pointed out that True is actively building a next-generation target network with the following three key capabilities to meet the changing user requirements in the digital era:

First, ultimate experience. Being customer-centric and providing customers with a better service experience are True's core values. In the digital era, services pose diversified requirements, forcing networks to ensure all-round service experience. This is especially true for True's enterprise users. Before enterprise production services move to the carrier network, the network mainly carries office services. Now, the network must ensure the quality of business-critical production services in any situation. This is where the network slicing solution comes into play. The solution imports enterprises' business-critical production services to slices to ensure that these services are not affected by other services on the network.

Second, 400GE ultra-broadband. True is the first carrier in Thailand to launch 5G, which offers a download rate 10 times higher than that of 4G. With the emergence of applications such as 4K video, VR, and enterprise video, the demand for network bandwidth will further increase. Against this backdrop, True further upgrades its network devices and introduces 400GE to the backbone network. In addition to providing ultra-broadband pipes to meet the bandwidth requirements of all services, 400GE also saves optical fiber resources, improves link utilization, and reduces TCO compared with 100GE.

Third, network automation. To optimize the service processing flow and improve network efficiency and response, True strives to build its network into an autonomous network. The key features of an autonomous network are "zero-wait, zero-trouble, and zero-touch" experience for end users and "self-configuring, self-healing, and self-optimizing" capabilities for O&M. As network autonomy advances, E2E network and service quality will increase, network O&M costs will go down, and network productivity will go up.

Mr. Zhang Linghua concluded that True is building a customer-centric target network featuring ultimate experience, 400G ultra-broadband, and network automation to continuously improve living quality and customer experience in the future digital society. True uses one convergence network to connect home, mobile, and enterprise customers, meeting diversified user requirements. And it uses the SDN controller for E2E network management, supporting diversified service scenarios such as home, industry, campus, and 5G ecosystem etc. Now, True is ready to strengthen cooperation with more potential partners to accelerate digital transformation and drive new business growth.
