OTTAWA -- Tropic Networks Inc. announces David L. Grimes as President and Robert Lane as Vice President Sales and Marketing Ottawa, Canada, Tuesday, July 20, 2004-Tropic Networks Inc., a developer of metro regional DWDM systems announced today the following appointments:

Mr. Grimes is appointed to the position of President Tropic Networks Inc. His responsibilities will include sales, marketing, business development, business alliances, partnerships, field operations, strategy, and executive relationship management with customers and partners.

Prior to joining Tropic Networks in 2001 as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Mr. Grimes held the position of President & CEO of Sykes Enterprises Incorporated (NASDAQ:SYKE) a global third party outsourcer. Mr. Grimes has thirty plus years of experience in the telecommunications industry, retiring from AT&T in 1998 as a Regional Vice President in the Business Services Division. This appointment is effective immediately.

Mr. Robert Lane is appointed to the position of Vice President Sales and Marketing. Mr. Lane joined Tropic Networks in 2002 as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. This appointment formally adds sales to his current responsibilities. Prior to joining Tropic Networks, Mr. Lane was Vice President Business Development for North American Optical Division, Marconi Communications. This appointment is effective immediately.
