STOCKHOLM -- Transmode Systems AB, a Swedish fibre optic system vendor, has developed a new generation of Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) systems using Linear Optical Amplifiers. The development of these amplifiers means CWDM can address markets traditionally reserved for DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing). Amplified CWDM systems can address long reach applications very efficiently. “Linear Optical Amplifiers (LOA) have the potential to be as important for the CWDM systems as the Erbium Doped Fibre Amplifiers (EDFA) has been for the long-haul transmission market”, says Johan Sandell, Transmode’s VP R&D. “This opens up a number of new applications for us where longer transmission reaches are required”.“Transmode is a pioneer of CWDM technology and the introduction of amplified systems will open up new markets for us. We are introducing a cost effective solution for amplified WDM requirements”, says Isaac Olasoko, CEO at Transmode Systems.Transmode Systems AB
