TiVo Teams With IFC on Broadband Video Trial

Venturing further into broadband territory, TiVo announced the launch of a video download trial with Independent Film Channel (IFC) earlier today. The trial will allow select TiVo customers to download three new IFC series over broadband connections before the original shows debut on the cable network later this week. The TiVo Series2 subscribers will also receive exclusive content, including outtakes and other unaired footage from the programs. TiVo, which boasts about its ability to integrate broadband video downloads and TV programming, said this is the first of several broadband features that it will start offering to TiVo Series2 users this year. Brodie Keast, executive vice president and general manager of TiVo's consumer division, said TV's future "will include an explosion of consumer choice, including programming options from both traditional broadcast and broadband Internet channels and sources."
