ALAMEDA, Calif. -- UTStarcom, Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI - News), a global leader in IP access networking and services, today announced that it has signed a two-year agreement with Tiscali, the European Internet Communication Company, for deployment of its AN-2000(TM) IB IP-based DSLAM. Under the terms of this agreement, Tiscali will use the AN-2000 IB in its multiservice broadband network, which will offer integrated Internet, telecommunications, and entertainment services in eight European countries. UTStarcom is also supplying Tiscali with NetRing(TM) optical Ethernet switches and iNetMan(TM) network and subscriber management software. Tiscali's first multiservice broadband networks will be deployed initially in Italy and France.

"UTStarcom and Tiscali share the same vision of what a modern DSL network should be: a multiservice platform that makes it easy and cost effective to provision broadband Internet access, telephony, and entertainment services over a single copper pair," said Bernd Schilp, vice president of UTStarcom EMEA. "We're proud to be the enablers of the unique triple-play services that Tiscali will be the first to offer the European market."
