ORLANDO, Fla. -- Time Warner Telecom (Nasdaq: TWTC), the leading competitive provider of metro and regional optical broadband networks and services to business customers in Orlando and 43 other U.S. markets, today announced the award and installation of a 3-year contract for new 20 Mbps Ethernet Internet Service (EIS), OC3, and DS3 services for the Orange County Board of County Commissioners.

Time Warner Telecom's service replaces some of Orange County Board of County Commissioners ATM data networks with faster transmission speeds and capacity for applications like hosting of county information websites and web casting of court arraignments and employee training. The Time Warner Telecom service also improves network bandwidth by as much as seven times while delivering network diversity for the Orange County Board of County Commissioners' WAN (Wide Area Network) for more efficient data transmission between nine separate locations.

One of the key components of the contract is Time Warner Telecom's ability to deliver flexible, high-speed Ethernet service over powerful and diverse fiber networks. Ethernet provides affordable and more manageable bandwidth increments for Internet access and data connections; easy, flexible and cost effective software upgrades to accommodate growth; and simpler customer management of a proven communications transmission technology that has a compatible interface to the customer's current network environment.

"Time Warner Telecom offered us improved network efficiency, faster bandwidth, network diversity and cost savings we simply couldn't pass up," said John Amiot, Network Systems Manager, Orange County Board of County Commissioners, Orlando, Fla. "In a time that requires cost cutting and efficiency improvements, we needed a strong supplier of communications services we could rely upon and trust. Time Warner Telecom delivered us that and more with an innovative, fiber-based solution that met our specific needs."
