ZURICH -- Time-Bandwidth Products, Inc.(TBP) announced today itsacquisition of GigaTera, Inc. in an all-cash transaction.

Dr. Kurt Weingarten, chairman of TBP, states “We are pleased to be able to close thisdeal. The technology developed by GigaTera has its intellectual property roots fromTime-Bandwidth and from the Ultrafast Laser Physics Group at the Swiss FederalInstitute of Technology in Zurich, and will synergistically fit in with TBP’s existingproduct lines. The unprecedented decay of the optical telecom market meant that novel,next-generation technology such as GigaTera’s is essentially non-fundable in today’sventure capital markets. The acquisition of GigaTera by TBP will allow this technologyto be commercial available for both near and longer-term applications.”

GigaTera will co-locate with TBP at the Technopark Business in Zurich and share TBP’slaser production infrastructure. The existing ERGOTM product line will be fullysupported by GigaTera. TBP and GigaTera will continue to develop high-repetition ratelasers and multi-wavelength source technology for emerging non-telecom and nextgenerationtelecom applications.
