The Hold'em Modem

1:05 PM -- Verizon Wireless has introduced an interesting new wireless gizmo -- a USB wireless modem with 4 Gbytes of onboard storage and support for the latest CDMA Rev A wireless connectivity. (See VZ Intros USB727 Modem.)

The USB747 can plug into laptops, desktops, and other devices and download content via the high-speed CDMA network. Pictures, videos, and other mobile content can be downloaded and carried around on the dongle.

I wonder if this concept will catch on? It costs about $150, which is a lot for a USB storage dongle, but not so bad when you consider that you'll be getting a wireless radio that gets about as close to broadband speeds as you get in the U.S. today.
