AT&T struggles to defend open cloudiness of Ericsson deal
More than a year into the Ericsson-led rollout, there is very little evidence AT&T's radio access network is as multivendor and virtualized as the telco makes out.
Light Reading spoke with MetTel SVP Lori Thomas at Network X about how strategic partnerships enable service providers to make better products for edge and cloud computing needs.
Light Reading spoke with MetTel's SVP of Strategic Engagement and Transformation, Lori Thomas, for a perspective on telecom opportunities in the edge and cloud. Thomas, who spoke at Network X Americas last week, discussed the value of strategic partnerships in enabling service providers to build better products for those markets.
In this interview, Thomas details how MetTel works with VMware and SpaceX to provide an SD-WAN service using VMware software and SpaceX's Starlink satellite service. The deployment of both, along with MetTel's single SIM tech, in a compact form factor has unlocked some new use cases for enterprises, carriers and government customers. Thomas said the combo allows secure, high-bandwidth communications to be quickly deployed in remote locations without Internet access.
Thomas also previews MetTel's upcoming customer conference, the MetTel Innovation Summit. She said the company will be sharing several new solutions with customers and discussing partnerships in 5G, AI, cybersecurity, smart infrastructure and more.
