The DiVitas Code

6:30 PM -- STAYSHERE, Nev. -- While I've been in Vegas at Interop, I've seen a lot and heard quite a bit about hot new fixed/mobile convergence startup DiVitas Networks Inc. .

This startup is taking an interesting approach to convergence, by letting the enterprise take control rather than the carriers. I've seen demonstrations of the system and met many of the key folks and they seem like smart cookies with a product that actually works. (See Convergent Insurgent.)

I can't, however, help but to be reminded of the Airespace approach in the way that the startup is rapidly adding to its partnership list, even though it's barely out of stealth mode. The firm is working with Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK), Symbol Technologies Inc. (NYSE: SBL), Trapeze Networks Inc. , and is said to be talking with several other major vendors.

It occurs to me that this will make the firm an attractive acquisition target in the future. The spendy suitor will get a hot technology, plus the chance to mess up a number of key partnership deals for their rivals in the process.

I'm not alone in this hunch -- and it looks like a smooth move as DiVitas already seems set to become a hot date to the convergence prom.

re: The DiVitas Code The company seemed to be well represented at the show in the Trapeze and Symbol rooms. An enterprise product seems like the most logical approach for voice and data convergence, time will tell.
