The Dell Cell
5:40 PM -- Yeah, yeah, there are so many rumors about a smartphone coming from Dell Technologies (Nasdaq: DELL).
Here's what I don't get, however: Who exactly is excited by the prospect of a smartphone from one of the world's more vanilla PC makers?
I mean it was easy to understand the interest around Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Google (Nasdaq: GOOG). Both companies had track records of interesting ideas about user interfaces and no small amount of design flair. In other words, they had something new to bring to the cellphone market.
Is that really the case with Dell? Maybe I'm being curmudgeonly, but I just don't see it.
