Terayon Picks TI Chips for Cable Modems

Terayon Communication Systems has picked Texas Instruments to supply silicon and software for the equipment maker's new cable modems, E-MTAs, residential gateways and other devices. The two companies announced Monday that TI will be the primary silicon and software provider for Terayon's new customer premises equipment. Under the arrangement, TI will supply chips and software for the Terayon TJ line of products, which includes the TJ700 data modem and the TJ900 family of E-MTAs. Terayon ranked as the third leading provider of cable modems and E-MTAs in the world last year, according to the latest research by Kinetic Strategies.
