ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Tellium, Inc., provider of the world’s first in-service intelligent optical switches, today announced the delivery of the final piece of its StarNet Software Suite, a versatile software package for creating, optimizing, running, controlling and provisioning optical networks. With the shipment of the StarNet Modeler to Qwest Communications International, Tellium can now empower carriers with a complete software suite for deploying and running intelligent optical mesh networks. The StarNet Software Suite consists of the StarNet Operating System, the StarNet Wavelength Management System and the StarNet Design Tools, including the StarNet Planner and StarNet Modeler.

Tellium, Inc., provider of the world’s first in-service intelligent optical switches, today announced that Qwest Communications International Inc., the broadband Internet communications company, is the first to successfully complete initial testing of Tellium’s 10 gigabit-per-second (Gb/s) network interfaces in Tellium’s high-capacity, scalable Aurora Optical Switch™. Tellium’s Aurora Optical Switch will be deployed as part of Qwest’s all-optical network initiative, which exploits the latest in optical technology to significantly reduce operating costs. By using Tellium’s Aurora Optical Switch in Qwest’s Optical Carrier (OC)-192 or 10 Gb/s network, Qwest will realize greater network capacity, reliability, and capital efficiencies, while maintaining OC-48 (2.5 Gb/s) grooming capabilities.
