OCEANPORT, NJ -- Tellium, Inc., the world's first provider of in-service intelligent optical switches, today announced that three leading optics experts have joined the company's Chief Technology Office (CTO).

Joining the New Jersey-based startup are Dr. Sid Chaudhuri, Dr. Evan L. Goldstein and Dr. Lih Y. Lin. These industry-leading optics experts will report to Dr. Krishna Bala, Tellium's Chief Technical Officer and will focus on developing the company's third generation optical design.

Tellium's CTO team is comprised of optical switching industry pioneers who joined the company after leaving Bell Communications Research (now known as Telcordia). The team was instrumental in developing the industry's first-to-market optical switch, the Aurora32, which Tellium introduced into service in 1999. Tellium expects to deliver its second generation switch, the Aurora Optical Switch, this summer, beating to market many competitors who are still working on their first generation devices.
