Telco & Cable Execs Wary of IP Video

Increasingly, it looks as if a collection of telco, cable, and media executives are feeling threatened by the effect of over-the-top content on their business models.
With more and more video being consumed on devices and over broadband connections, Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) and Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) executives say service providers are going to have to make big adjustments in the world of pervasive digital content.
On a panel at the Advertising 2.0 conference yesterday, Terry Denson, Verizon's vice president of programming and marketing for FiOS TV, said service providers need to "preserve the integrity of network-based distribution" of content.
