Tekelec announces new executive appointments and resignations

MORRISVILLE, N.C. -- Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC), a leading developer of high-performance network applications for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, today announced the following changes to its executive team.

Adrian Fitzgerald has been appointed VP, North America Sales and Global Channels. In addition to his current role overseeing our North American direct sales efforts, Adrian will assume responsibility for all of our sales activities through channels and OEM partners. Since joining Tekelec in 1997, he has held a number of leadership positions in Sales and Marketing, including managing Commercial Marketing, Business Development, Marketing Communications and Product Management.

Wolrad Claudy, Managing Director for the EMEA Region since October 2003, will also assume responsibility for the emerging regions of India and Asia. In order to provide critical mass for pre-sales and post-sales support in India and Asia, Tekelec is combining these efforts with the larger support team in EMEA. Each major customer in these regions will continue to have dedicated in-country account teams.

Dave Rice will join Tekelec as Senior Vice President, operations on July 5, 2006 and will be located in the Company's Morrisville, NC headquarters. Dave has over 20 years of Operations experience in the telecommunications equipment industry. Dave is presently Vice President, Global Materials Management at Nortel where he is responsible for global supply chain planning, fulfillment execution to support revenue assurance, delivery performance and inventory management. Previously at Nortel he also served in a number of senior management roles including Vice President, Optical Supply Chain Operations and Plant Manager, Wireless GSM Access.

The Company also announced the resignation of two senior executives who are leaving the company to pursue other interests. Lori Craven, Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing, and David Frankie, Senior Vice President, Operations have resigned effective June 30, 2006.
