VIENNA, Va. and SAN DIEGO -- Tachyon Networks Incorporated ("Tachyon"), the first reliable high-speed, carrier-grade satellite broadband communications provider to enterprises and government agencies, and Xplornet, Canada's largest and fastest growing broadband wireless service provider, today announced a strategic partnership leveraging Tachyon's network infrastructure and Xplornet's sales, customer service and installation services. The partnership offers reliable, high-speed broadband satellite services to government agencies, enterprises and small- and medium-sized businesses in Canada and North America.

Xplornet, formerly known as LinCsat, is Canada's largest and fastest growing broadband wireless service provider. The company brings an extensive enterprise sales and service infrastructure to the partnership, providing marketing, sales, installation, maintenance, first- and second-level customer support and billing. Tachyon is providing the satellite network infrastructure, gateway and patented customer premise equipment (CPE) and network monitoring that enables terrestrial-like speed and performance with burst rates up to 1.544Mbps and guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS).

"As we grow our business, Xplornet looks to offer reliable high bandwidth and commercial grade solutions to our geographically diverse customers," said Bruce Barr, president for Xplornet. "One of our key goals is to ensure that our customers in rural regions receive the same reliable broadband solution as urban enterprise subscribers. After a comprehensive review of available solutions, we believe that Tachyon offers the best possible one for this market."

The partnership distributes two of Tachyon's pre-eminent solutions that will be available immediately. Xplornet will offer a new solution to its customers with Tachyon Enterprise, a sophisticated, high-bandwidth satellite broadband solution used by large enterprises for backup to terrestrial service or for primary connectivity to geographically remote facilities. Tachyon Express will be offered as a service suite priced and designed specifically to meet the speed, reliability and performance requirements for small- and medium-sized businesses with multiple locations.

"This partnership benefits customers who need reliable satellite broadband solutions," said Yaniv Oz, vice president of distribution channels for Tachyon. "Xplornet's unsurpassed sales, installation and customer service network, combined with Tachyon's powerful satellite broadband network and deep technical know-how is a true advantage for customers."
