As part of the agreement, Symantec is providing Marathon with Symantec DeployCenter Library and Symantec V2i Protector 2.0 Desktop Edition along with professional services to help the company implement the technology to meet its information availability needs.

"We evaluated solutions in the marketplace and found Symantec's DeployCenter Library and V2i Protector offered us the most complete solutions to quickly and reliably deploy and protect our PC storage resources," said Martin A. Leach, information technology manager at Marathon. "We even had a free third-party backup and recovery solution provided to us through a current OEM agreement, but we felt that Symantec offered us the best performance with the least interference to our company's operations."

Symantec DeployCenter Library combines deployment, migration, system refresh and secure data disposal solutions in a single offering that integrates with existing enterprise IT infrastructures. V2i Protector 2.0 Desktop Edition is a rapid, real-time backup and disaster recovery solution designed to quickly restore failed Windows desktops and laptops to an operative state. This family of complementary tools provides an integrated solution for ensuring a company's information availability needs. This includes the introduction of PCs and servers into the IT environment to backing up and recovering valuable system and data resources to secure system retirement.
