Switch and Data acquires the assets of PAIX.net, the leading Internet peering exchange provider in the US, for over $40M

TAMPA, Fla. -- Switch and Data, Inc., the leading neutral interconnection and colocation provider, announced today that the company acquired the assets of PAIX.net, Inc. ("PAIX"), the leading Internet peering exchange provider in the United States, with locations in Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Palo Alto, Seattle, and Vienna. Switch and Data's acquisition is inclusive of all PAIX sites. "This acquisition is consistent with our vision to provide the premier business-enabling marketplace for our customers. The combined company will integrate the neutral colocation and peering market leaders, exponentially improving our customers' interconnection choices," said Patricia Higgins, Switch and Data's President and CEO. "Switch and Data is committed to continue to provide superb customer service to all our customers. Furthermore, this acquisition significantly enhances the combined company's financial position, supporting our customers' decision to select us as a strong strategic partner."The acquisition of PAIX.net, Inc. further improves Switch and Data's EBITDA positive financial standing, as the combined company will generate free cash flow and annual revenues of about $440K per employee, a 30% increase. The company also reports that this acquisition will increase its customer base to over 400 and network connectivity choices to more than 250 distinct networks. "The purchase of the PAIX assets will elevate Switch and Data to the nation's dominant provider of infrastructure services to data-centric carriers, Internet access providers and enterprise customers.
