SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Swan Labs today announced $15 million in funding and a plan to jump-start the company's Enterprise Application Shaping product strategy. Norwest Venture Partners and DCM - Doll Capital Management partnered in the Series A investment round, while Benhamou Global Ventures and angel investors provided seed funding for the company.

Swan Labs develops Enterprise Application Shaping (EAS) products that combine WAN optimization with application acceleration to deliver improved and predictable performance for enterprise applications deployed over wide-area networks. To speed time to market of the Swan solution, the company has acquired patent-pending NetCelera WAN optimization technology and is integrating the core NetCelera intellectual property into its EAS product architecture. The NetCelera development team has joined a seasoned group of Swan engineers that has a proven track record for product execution and combined expertise in protocol development, performance engineering, and application management.

Andrew Foss is president and CEO of Swan Labs. "For many years, I've heard the same complaint from large corporate customers: 'Our applications work fine on our LAN, but not on our WAN,'" said Foss. "Traditional WAN optimization techniques are a first step toward alleviating some of the pain, but ultimately they are treating the symptoms, not the root causes of the problem. Swan Labs is the first company to combine WAN optimization and application performance optimization into a total solution. With the support of our top-tier investment and board advisory team, we believe we are extremely well-positioned to succeed in this large global marketplace."

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Swan Labs, the premier provider of Enterprise Application Shaping solutions to Global 2000 enterprises, announced today that networking industry innovator Eric Benhamou has accepted the position of chairman of the board for the company. Benhamou, the former CEO of 3Com Corporation and current chairman of the board of directors at 3Com Corporation, Cypress Semiconductor, palmOne, Inc., and PalmSource, Inc., becomes the leader of the Swan Labs board populated by industry veterans.

Benhamou brings to Swan Labs not only an impressive track record of industry success but also an established reputation as a hands-on chairman of the board. As he has done in similar positions with existing companies, Benhamou plans to play an active role in company operations at Swan Labs.

"I am very enthusiastic about Swan Labs' Enterprise Application Shaping technology and its prospects in a fast-growing, lucrative market," said Benhamou. "In the average global enterprise, more than 80 percent of corporate employees connect to critical enterprise applications from remote offices. The combination of WAN inefficiencies and server consolidation has resulted in sluggish application performance and slow response times for these users. Swan Labs' technology provides an innovative, cost-effective solution to these problems. The Swan Labs team is talented and experienced enough to drive the company toward successful execution of its market strategy. I look forward to working with them to that end."
