COO Philip Schofield to leave; Richard Durrant promoted to group VP of fiber optic products; Luis Torres named director, optoelectronics

CHICAGO -- Stratos Lightwave, Inc., (Nasdaq: STLW) a leading supplier of optical subsystems and optical components, today announced several important changes in its management team. - Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Philip W. Schofield has advised the company of his intention to leave, effective February 15, 2002 to become President and CEO of Optimer Photonics, Inc., Columbus, Ohio.
- Richard C. E. Durrant has been promoted to Group Vice President of the company's Fiber Optic Products business. Mr. Durrant has been with Stratos since 1993 and has served as Managing Director of Stratos, Ltd. in Haverhill, England since 1996.
- Luis Torres has been promoted to Director of Technology of the Optoelectronics Products business. Mr. Torres has been with Stratos since 1996 and has served as Engineering Manager of Optoelectronic Products.
- Kenneth R. Marchman has been promoted to Director of Advanced Products. Mr. Marchman has been with Stratos since 1993, most recently as our General Manager of Fiber Optic Products.
- Andy Mehta has joined the company as General Manager, Optical Subsystems. Mr. Mehta has previously served as Chief Technical Officer for Entrada Networks, Inc.Stratos Lightwave Inc.
