SAN JOSE, Calif. -- StarGen, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company, today unveiled that samples are now available of its SG3010 TDM (time division multiplexing)-to-StarFabric Bridge at the Intel Developer's Forum in San Jose, CA. As part of StarGen's portfolio of scalable, open switched interconnect solutions, the SG3010 was built specifically to tackle the unique interconnect requirements of access communications equipment engineers who design voice, data, and video systems. The SG3010 enables highly flexible, low-cost serial switched backplane designs with quality of service (QoS) and high-availability support built-in. The SG3010 enables the connection of TDM devices, including DSPs, framers, and voice processors, as well as the H.110 TDM bus, directly to StarFabric serial switches. It can connect up to 128 H.110 bus segments together - providing up to 128 times the voice processing capacity of today's typical standards-based H.110 products. It is well suited for use in standard CompactPCI platforms. Utilizing the PICMG 2.17 CompactPCI StarFabric specification, a system can be designed to provide the entire bandwidth of an H.110 bus to every line card. Additionally, it can function as a highly scalable time slot switch enabling cost-effective, small TDM switch systems up to large systems capable of supporting 250K DS0s. The high-capacity SG3010 is ideal for such next-generation applications as voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) gateways, voice-over-broadband (VoB) systems, wireless base stations, and other high-density communications network equipment. It provides a level of system scaling unattainable with current standard off-the-shelf TDM components. "The SG3010 is the perfect complement to our existing line-up of globally distributed StarFabric solutions," said Tracy Richardson, president and co-founder of StarGen. "Communications equipment designers looking to scale current systems to unprecedented levels of performance, while reducing both costs and time-to-market, can now turn to StarGen for a complete silicon solution for digital convergence."
