Sprint to Launch LTE Service Soon?

Users who are buying up Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S)'s initial Long Term Evolution (LTE) devices now might be able to use them on the operator's new 4G network soon, at least in a few cities in the U.S.

Sprint has started to sell its first LTE devices before it launches the new 4G service as part of its overall "Network Vision" upgrade. The service will initially only be available in six cities, mostly in Texas. Sprint has so far only said that it will launch "mid-year." (See Sprint to Launch LTE by Mid-2012, Sprint LTE Devices Arrive Before Network and Sprint's 4G LTE Texan Triangle.) "I think they will launch late June or early July," Heavy Reading analyst Berge Ayvazian tells Light Reading Mobile.

This seems to synch up with the Inside Sprint Now blog's reports that Texas launches are coming.

PC Mag's speed tests would seem to cooberate that LTE is coming soon. It'd have to be if Sprint's going to meet its deadline anyway.

I asked them, still just saying "mid-year."

Is their device running in Band 25, more precisely, that 5Mhz G-block?
