LONDON -- Sprint (NYSE: FON, PCS) today announced it has provided NORDUnet with emergency and continued high-speed global connectivity to the public Internet. NORDUnet is the Nordic Internet highway that connects research and education networks in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland.It took Sprint just one day to organise a 2.5Gb (gigabit) connection to the public Internet from the moment NORDUnet ordered the emergency connection, to the moment it was completed.Under the terms of the agreement, Sprint provides two 2.5Gb, fully redundant, Internet connections via its Copenhagen and Stockholm nodes to the SprintLink™ Global IP (Internet Protocol) Network, the Tier 1 seamless network from Sprint. The deal ensures that over a million Nordic academics and researchers continue to experience high-quality Internet services, despite the sudden demise of its former supplier."NORDUnet is an example of the many customers we have helped who have been caught in a similar situation.
